Experience and References

From a very early age I have loved sports. In first grade I woke up every morning before school to watch SportsCenter. At family parties I would sit with the adults and dish out sports stats from memory rather than play with the other kids. It made sense at a very early age to combine my love of sports with my interest in writing for a future career.

I went to Emerson College in Boston, MA and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Print & Multimedia Journalism. At Emerson I balanced a schedule filled with numerous multimedia journalism classes, including sports reporting, with writing for the school's newspaper, The Berkeley Beacon, and playing for the school's NCAA Division 3 men's lacrosse team, which I was captain of my senior year. My junior and senior years I worked as a correspondent for The Boston Globe and started writing for New England Lacrosse Journal.

Since graduation I have also added to my resume writing for LaxMagazine.com, the official website for US Lacrosse, hosting an on-line radio show titled "Lacrosse Lounge" for Lacrosse Radio Network and writing for the Network's website InLacrosseWeTrust.com.

Work of mine has been published on the Lakewood Blueclaws (low single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) website, FoxSoccer.com, Philly.com, and SeattlePI.com.

My experiences have seen me cover sporting events at big-time venues such as MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. and TD Garden in Boston, MA. I have interviewed high-profile names in sports such as NFL Hall-of-Famer Jim Brown, former Duke University men's lacrosse head coach Mike Pressler and former USWNT World Cup star Brandi Chastain.

Outside of writing, I also was the freshman boys' lacrosse coach at Toms River High School East for the spring 2012 season.

Here's some of what others have had to say about my work:

“I had a great time working with Phillip. He was top notch soccer correspondent for the Boston Globe and assisted with online coverage as much as possible on Boston.com, where I edited his work.

The great thing about a guy like him is that he is a polished enough writer and has enough know-how to go far in this industry. I got to edit his original copy for the website and was pleased with the manner in which it originated.

I expect him to have a fruitful career marked by many years in the business.”
 Zuri Berry, Sports Producer, Boston.com

“Phillip is diligent, hard working and very talented. Researches his topics well, is well-read, and has a knack for telling a story without getting bogged down in details. Sharp student, he's on his way to being an outstanding writer and journalist.” John Rooke, Independent Broadcast Contractor

“Only at the beginning of his career, Phillip has done tremendously with endeavors at the Boston Globe, the online LAX journal, and his own blog site. It is a true testament to his intelligence, work ethic, and being a team player. The sky's the limit for Phil as he continues to pursue his career goals.” Roger Mazzella, Global Director of Strategic Accounts, Excel Translations

“Phillip is a well-rounded journalist in various forms of print media in addition to his radio endeavors. Not only does he captivate his audience and followers with cutting-edge content, he treats the subjects of his work (professional athletes and coaches) with great respect and integrity. Phillip Shore is a media personality that I enjoy interacting with as a guest on his shows as well as a highly regarded member of his news and broadcasting community. All journalists would benefit from having the traits and qualities that have made Phillip successful.” Nolan Godfrey, Professional Lacrosse Player, Major League Lacrosse (MLL)

“I've known Phil Shore since his undergraduate days at Emerson College and I have watched his professional progression ever since. From his days at the Emerson student newspaper to his internship at the Boston Globe to his work with LaxMagazine.com, Phil has excelled at every step of the way. Phil is a talented, diligent, hard-working writer, and the kind of employee any company would be fortunate to have. I give him my highest recommendation.” Roger Crosley, Director of Communications at Eastern College Athletic Conference, former Coordinator of Athletic Operations, Emerson College

“Phil is a reliable and hard-working writer who takes initiative and encourages feedback. It's been a pleasure to have him write for LaxMagazine.com and I plan for him to continue doing so.” Corey McLaughlin, Editor, LaxMagazine.com, US Lacrosse
